WYDOT Linear Reference System roads geometry. WYDOT initially received the base roads data layer from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics at a scale of 1:100,000 in 1999. The initial GIS Linear Reference System (LRS) route layer was developed in conjunction with ESRI using this base data layer, U.S. Census Bureau TIGER data and the Department's 1999 Wyoming Reference Marker System book. Using state-wide aerial photos, WYDOT realigned on-system routes where discrepancies occurred. Separate geometry was added for divided highways. The route names were updated to a new system from the route names previously implemented in the Wyoming Reference Marker System. In addition interchanges, exits and on /off ramps were digitized. The resulting updated LRS layer at a scale of 1:12000 was put into production in 2003. New and existing alignments are updated from CADD and 2009 Color Infrared Digital Ortho Quarter quads. City streets are being incorportated with geometry provided by counties, muncipalities or digitized from 2009 Color Infrared Digital Ortho Quarter quads. As of 2012, all new routes and all edits made to existing routes are completed at a scale of 1:2000.

",
